Roger Llewelyn Parker, Sr., 87, of Annapolis, passed quietly at home March 10, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born April 6, 1935, in Galesville, MD, to the late Mildred [Mackell] Tooks and Warren Parker, Sr., Roger attended Bates Senior HS, Annapolis, was an U.S. Air Force veteran, and a 35-year retiree from the Naval Ordnance Station/NSWC, Indian Head. Upon federal retirement, he worked in the Annapolis Mall from 1992 to 2012, first at Montgomery Wards and later JCPenney. Mr. Parker was a Master’s Level sprinter for the Potomac Valley Track Club and competed until the 1990’s winning many awards. In his golden years, he enjoyed drawing, spent quality time with family, and treasured lunchtime meetings with his friends and former coworkers.
In addition to his parents, our Roger was predeceased by children, Warren Parker and Alecia [Parker] Zeigler; great-granddaughters, Amoir Turner and Kharri Smith; and brother, Warren Parker, Jr. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 64-years, Deloris [Hunt] Parker; 8 children: Roger Parker, Jr. of Pasadena, MD, Keith Brown of GA; Faith, Christopher and Pamela Parker all of Annapolis, Franchsquar Melinda Berry of Arnold, MD, Stephanie Parker-Flowers of White Plains, MD, and Brian (Rochelle) Parker of Tacoma, WA; siblings: Otha J. Pierce of Syracuse, NY, Pamelia Butler of Gwynn Oak, MD, and Gail Gaskins; 29 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson, and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
