On January 7, Patricia Ann Sayles, aged 72, died at Baltimore Washington Medical Center of COVID-19 complications. Patricia was born on March 22, 1949 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to her late parents Llewellyn Schler and Charlotte Allen. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Sayles Jr. and her brother Charlton “Weep” Allen.
Patricia was affectionately known by many as “Muva” or “Mother” and ran a daycare out of her house in Glen Burnie for over 30 years. Most of the children came from her church and neighborhood.
Patricia loved being in the kitchen. Baking cakes was one of her favorite pastimes, especially for her loved ones’ and friends’ birthdays. Many of her Sundays after church were spent sharing conversation and laughter over a home-cooked meal with friends and family.
Everyone was welcome at her house, and anyone who walked through the door was met with love and kindness.
She was a devout Baptist and a member of the choir at Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn, Maryland. Even when her health prevented her from attending service in person, she continued to speak with Reverend Lemon and participate in Bible study.
Patricia is survived by her children, Robert and Theresa Sayles, her sister, Taron L. Allen, and her nephew Charlton Allen. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tamarron L. Burley, Megan Sayles, and Matthew Sayles and her great grandchild, La’Ron R. Gough.
