Obituary

Joseph “Joe” Hall, Jr. was born on January 16, 1963 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Joseph Hall, Sr. and Edith Laverne Hall. He departed this life on Thursday, June 22, 2023 to join his Heavenly Father.
Joe received his education in the Anne Arundel County Public School System. He was on varsity football, basketball, and baseball at the onset of entering high school. During this time he was recognized as one of the top athletes in the State of Maryland. He went on to play basketball and to graduate from Essex Community College. His athleticism also afforded him an opportunity to play on a semi-pro basketball team alongside his late brother-in-law Phil McManus.
Joe was employed with the Department of Defense working in Security until his untimely death. During his tenure he lived in Germany for 8-years, traveled the world and received many accolades recognizing his dedication, outstanding performance and commitment to serving the Nation for more than 30 years.
Joe started his Christian journey at Mount Zion United Methodist Church Magothy, Pasadena, Maryland. He attended worship services and participated in multiple ministries. He was a faithful believer and showed commitment by being a Trustee, a member of the Birdie Green (BG) Ensemble and Building Committee. While residing in Evans, GA, Joe became a member of Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert L. Ramsey. He was always willing to help and support his church family.
Joe loved his family with all his heart and enjoyed being in the company of others. He was often referred to as “Little Joe” aka “Papa Joe.” He enjoyed singing, playing Spades, socializing, football (a die hard San Francisco 49ers fan), basketball (a devoted University of North Carolina Chapel Hill fan), bowling, and giving back to his community by coaching youth and adults in softball, baseball, and basketball.
On August 27, 1988, Joe was joined in holy matrimony to Darlene Ward. From this union, they raised two beautiful children.
Preceding him in death was his brother Thurman Pearmon (Doretha).
Joe leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Darlene of Evans, Georgia; daughter, Monique Hall-McClendon (Donald, Jr.) of Glen Burnie, Maryland; son, Christin Hall (Lauren) of Baltimore, Maryland; two grand-daughters, Jenesis McClendon and Brooklyn Hall; two sisters, Annette Hudson (James) of Glen Burnie, Maryland; Dawn Marshall of Glen Burnie, Maryland; three brothers, Jeffrey Hall of Baltimore, Maryland; Kordell Woods (Karyn) of Glen Burnie, Maryland; and Louis Jackson (Kimberly) of Glen Burnie, Maryland; uncle, Leonard Hall, Jr. (Delores) of Severna Park, Maryland; four aunts, Mary Jane McClinton of Pasadena, Maryland; Florence Coates of Glen Burnie, Maryland; Lorraine Hill of Glen Burnie, Maryland; and Patricia Chase of Pasadena,Maryland; mother-in-law, Lila Noble of Millersville, Maryland; sister-in-law, Lisa Ward-McManus of Glen Burnie, Maryland; two brother-in-laws, Robert Ward (Darlene) of New Brunswick, New Jersey; Lamar Noble of Charlotte, North Carolina; three godchildren, Rezon Alford of East Windsor, New Jersey; Kaleb Woods of Glen Burnie, Maryland; Mattye Hargrow of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
