John Arnold Obituary

“Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me.  In my fathers house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am there ye may be also.”                                  --- John 14: 1-2

                               Obituary

John William Arnold Jr. was born on January 9, 1950 at Johns Hospital to the late Judie and John Arnold Sr. He was a surprise, but they were excited to welcome home their baby boy. John attended George Fox Elementary and later graduated from Northeast High School, after which he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.  On January 6, 1978 he married Linda Norman, and gained a daughter Ramona Waters whom he loved. From this union, Jonetta Arnold was born. Although this union was not permanent, they remained friends afterwards. After he was discharged, he went on to work at Nevamarr in Odenton, MD for 35 years. John decided to reenlist to the Army Resereve.  John enjoyed traveling, playing cards, eating good food, and he loved to laugh.

He had a very charismatic smile and charming demeanor.  John loved watching tv and loved watching movies. He was known for his skills in making his famous sandwiches. Also, allowing his food to get cold when he was called to eat and taking so long to come get his plate.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Judie Arnold and by his two sisters Ernestine Mills, and Louise Davis. At the time of his illness, he resided at Spirit of Life Assisted Living under care by Gieselle Goodrum. He leaves to mourn: two daughters Jonetta Arnold, and Ramona Waters; their mother Linda Arnold; two brother- in-law David Norman, Clarence Norman; one sister-in-law Maxine Murphy; two grandchildren, Dana Richardson and Dorian Richardson and two great grandchildren. Known to her as “Big June” Johnnie Taylor(Johnnetta Zantt) and a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memories

Sometimes it’s hard to understand why some things have to be. But in his wisdom, God has planned beyond our power to see. So looking back on memories we shared, which were so very dear. I’ll Always cherish the times we had because they will keep you near.

                                                Love, Linda Arnold

Dad

There are so many memories that come flooding back as I think of you. Us playing video games, watching football, and watching movies together. Family Saturdays out, Christmases where we all came down as a family and how you were always moving so slow and we had to wait for you Lol. The last time I spoke to you, I asked you if you knew who it was, you snickered and said it’s my cookie monster which brought me to tears. I Love you Dad and I’m going to miss you.

Dad

I can’t believe he’s gone. He’s left our world behind -- and though he’s moving on, his light will always shine. In everything he taught me with every truth he shared-- the love he gave so freely and the way he always cared. His loyalty, his honesty, his humor and his pride-- always shall inspire me to cast my fears aside. Go after your dreams with all your heart! Is what he used to say – and now though it seems. That we’re worlds apart he has not gone away. His spirit still shall lift me, his smile will remain – Part of everything we see, in our joy and in our pain. He will always feel our love we are forever blessed – and as he watches from above we’ll try to do our best.

                                                Love, Mona
