Violet Verdella Eldridge was born on Saturday, July 27, 1929, to the late Andrew Butler and Martha Ann Sewell Butler in Dorsey, Maryland.  On Thursday, November 11, 2021, Violet left this earthly realm and began her eternal heavenly life.

Violet was reared in a Christian home and continued the love of God throughout her life. At an early age, Violet joined St. Mark United Methodist Church in Hanover, MD and later in life became a member of Elkridge Christian Community Church in Elkridge, MD.

She received her education in Anne Arundel County where she attended Harman Elementary School, Bates High School, and attended Apex Beauty School.

Violet was employed for many years at the Quartermaster Laundry, Ft. Meade, MD and retired from Loyola College, Columbia, MD.

Violet was united in holy matrimony to William M. Eldridge of Severn, MD. They shared many years of marriage and from this union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters.

Violet enjoyed spending time with her family. Throughout the years she loved and nurtured many generations of family and friends. She always made room in her home and at her table.  She loved entertaining family and friends. She loved communicating with her quick wit, on the phone and in person.

Violet cared for and visited her sister, Irene (who got her wings in April of this year), at the long-term care facility until the pandemic shutdown. Violet and her sister lived in the same building, and they always took care of one another and their families before Irene's illness.

Violet leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters Chrystal Ann Eldridge, Karen Delores Eldridge and special-son Lawrence Johnson (Wanda); grandchildren, Bobby Chaunce Eldridge, Dana Eldridge, Dena Wallace (Joe) and Keenan Eldridge; great-grandchildren, Amani Eldridge (best friend), Jayden Spurlin, Jacob Eldridge, Braycen Wallace; Devoted Sisters-in-law, Catherine Matthews and Inez Thomas; Brothers-in-law, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Nieces Shirley Thomas and Gail Walker (Eugene) were thought of as Violet's daughters. Many special friends including Collette Dyson, Dolores Foreman and Josephine Kargbo. Violet's zoom crew: Tamikia Randall, Alethia Randall, James DeBerry and Justin DeBerry and her caring aide, Michelle Harris.
