Obituary

Richard Leon Moore was the loving and devoted son of the late Richard and Thelma Moore.  He was born September 4, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland.  He received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System.  Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. from 1968-1970 serving one tour in the Vietnam War.  Once released from the Marine Corp. he returned home met and married his late wife Delores Moore on November 8, 1976.  After their union, he enlisted in the United States Army from 1976-1979. Once discharged from the Army he returned home, where he served as a Lieutenant of the Maryland Department Corrections for over 30 yrs.

Richard was always a devoted family man, one of his favorite past times was attending the gun range and reading.  No matter where anyone would see him there would be a book in one hand and his great nephew Asante in the other.  They loved to go on what they called "adventures" to many different places from Chuck E Cheese, Petco, or just walking in the woods exploring. He was a father figure for him and his mom, Lashawn aka Shawneecy. Richard had a huge heart and an even a bigger smile. Most of the time he was the glue that held the family together, always giving of himself to all in need never hesitating to lend a helping hand. He was a surrogate father, a great friend and companion. To know him was to love him and anyone who encountered Richard couldn't help but to love him.

Just before his sudden death Richard was baptized at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic church by Pastor LT Calloway. So please believe his spirit was right with God.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Moore; baby brother, Samuel Moore and 2 sisters in law, Hope and Lovette Anderson.  He leaves to mourn his memory 8 brothers, Clarence, Gerald, Jerome, Gary, David, Moses, Michael, and Larry; 5 sisters, Stella, Gwendolyn, Cheryl, Annette and Darlene. He also leaves to mourn 5 sisters in law, Antoinette, Doris, Octavia, Faith and Evangelist Vera McSwain. A beloved niece, Lashawn Williams and Great nephew, Asante Tate; One special friend and companion Darlene Mitchell and a big host of nieces and nephews. Yes Richard came from a huge family full of love and admiration. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
