On Wednesday, June 3, 2015 Joseph Lewis affectionately known as "Sonny" departed this life. He was born October 19, 1940 in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Alethia Griswould and his step father Howard Griswould. Sonny was the oldest of three siblings.

Sonny served in the United States Army as a Heavy Anti-Armor Weapons Infantryman. Sonny also served in the United States Army Corps as a Hospital Attendant. He worked for Anne Arundel County Public Works and Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Sonny loved to sing. One could also hear Sonny harmonizing anywhere. Back in the day Sonny sang with an all-male group called the "Tones".

Sonny attended Baltimore City and Sumter County Public School Systems. Sonny accepted the Lord as a member of St. James Church of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. located in Glen Burnie, Maryland under the leadership of Bishop Robert E. Johnson.

Sonny was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Alethia Griswould, Mr. Howard Griswould, (step father) and one sister Bernadette.
