Obituary of Joseph Lawrence Bennett III July 31, 1957 – June 30, 2023

Joseph Lawrence Bennett III, was born on July 31, 1957 to Joseph L. Bennett, II (D) and Charlotte M. Weems. He departed this life suddenly on June 30, 2023.

Joseph was affectionately known as "Larry" or "Joe" to family and friends. Larry was the eldest of Charlotte's six children. He was always spoke lovingly of his family. He would always say "nothing like family".

He was born and raised in Cherry Hill and loved his "R.I.C.H." family as well.

Larry was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He served in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged in June 1975. He held several jobs including stevedore at the Port of Baltimore, as well as Carr Lowery Glass Company, where he held several positions.

Larry could often be found laughing and enjoying music of all genres. He loved sports especially the Baltimore Ravens. He had a story for every event and occasion. He was a master storyteller of tall tales and jokes.

Larry was a sharp dresser. He loved the casino and playing the lottery.

Larry married the love of his life, the late Wendy Alease Bennett in 1995.

He was also preceded in death by his father, Joseph, his grandmother Amelia, sisters: Lynette, Amelia, Patricia, Sheryl. Brothers: David and Shawn, grandson Demetrius and one of his favorite aunts, Theodora.

He leaves to mourn his memory, his mother Charlotte Weems, his children Derrick (Alicia), Joseph IV (Natonia), Larria (Ronald) and Amber; his sister, Janell (Pete), Carla Denise (George), Renee (Carl) and Robin, his favorite aunts, Becky, Frankie (Seigfried) and Trecy.

A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. A bonus brother and best friend Charles (Sharon ) and a devoted companion, Tijuana
