James Elliott
Miller
June 5, 1932 – April 15, 2015
James Elliott Miller was born on June 5, 1932 in St. Matthews, South Carolina to the late Reverend Oliver E. and Ethel G. Miller. He was the second born child of this union. As an infant he was brought to Baltimore where he began his education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. He received his early religious training at St. Paul Institutional Baptist Church.
He was a graduate of Carver Vocational High School, and thereafter he enlisted into the United States Air Force at the age of 21, where he obtained the rank of Master Sergeant.
After many years of active duty in the Air Force he retired. Thereafter, he went to Police Training School for Federal Law Enforcement. He then became a Federal Service Police working for the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Maryland where he retired at the rank of Lieutenant.
James was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #381. He was also a Commander of District 13.
In his spare time, James had many interest. He enjoyed traveling in his recreational vehicle, photography, fishing and most of all having family and friends gathered at his home.
James lived a full life and after fighting a lengthy illness, he was called home by Our Father.
James was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Pete Miller and Melvin Miller.
James leaves to cherish his memory: Ruth Miller, his wife of 62 years; children, Jackie, Carolyn and Kevin; A host of grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 1 sister, Gertrude Flowers and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
