"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." (Psalm 90:12)

After fighting a very courageous battle of the disease cancer, Cheyenne left his earthly vessel to be with the Lord.

Born in Chatham, VA, as the centerpiece child of Oscar and Viola Berger. Cheyenne was the middle child born amidst 13 siblings. He was educated in the Pittsylvania VA Public School System.

Cheyenne, proudly served in the United States Army as a cannon crewman and later became a sniper and ammunitions specialist in the U.S. Army.

Enjoying life and spending time with family was a great part of who he was. Whether it was fishing, hunting, archery, driving fast cars, or others would say driving cars fastly, home improvements, sports and or cooking, Cheyenne gave his best and did each very well and with passion. Summer fish frys and cookouts were always a great time at the house. Surely everyone can remember Cheyenne on his way to or coming from a "special" fishing spot with his brothers and friends. Everyday there were rods in the trunk of his car waiting for a free moment to cast his line.

Cheyenne, worked over 30 plus years as a Stationary Engineer in the healthcare arena and private sectors holding a D.C. 3 rd Class Certification. He loved troubleshooting and figuring out why things were not working the way they should, to include major AC units and electrical components. He made sure everyone was comfortable in their environments. Getting dirty or wet was never an issue for him. He loved his career and shared his knowledge freely amongst his colleagues and friends .

About 6 years ago he met his "Sweets" Penny. Together they enjoyed life hand in hand taking road trips, cruises, plays, concerts, dining, movies and the list goes on. A great part of their marriage is the love they shared for Jesus Christ and knowing they both were saved. To this union are two spoiled and loving companion dogs, Buddy and Diamond who are both Cheyenne's "pride and joy."

Cheyenne, leaves to mourn his loving wife, Penny; Mother-Viola Berger; and Mother-In-Law Mildred Cromwell. Three sons Cheyenne Jr., Andrew and Christopher. Three daughters Shenika, Shannon, and Nicole. Two step sons Don Wayne and Ryan Chatman; One step daughter Gretta DeWitt; One daughter-in-law Angelique Chatman. Four granddaughters Morgan Buck, Kalen Buck, India DeWitt, and Brynn Chatman. Six sisters, Shirley Witcher, Gloria Starling, Viola Martin, Estelle Cromartie, Linda Hood and Arlene preceded in death. One Sister-In-Law Beverly Wiggins. Six brothers, Marshall Berger, Marvin Berger, Ricky Berger, Oscar Berger Jr., Milton Berger and Joseph Berger, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
