Catherine Cotton was born on November 10, 1928 in Suffolk, Virginia to the late Rev. Berket Haywood and Cornetta Copeland. She departed this life on January 23, 2015 at her home.
At an early age she gave her life to the Lord and became an active member of the Church of God with Pastor Russell on Baltimore Street & in Ellicott City. She served as the Pianist under the leadership of Pastor Hawkins at Liberty Road in Randallstown. Her passion for playing the piano started at the
age of 4. She developed the skill of playing by ear.
Catherine attended school in Virginia pursuing a career as a Certified Nursing Attendant. For 20 years she worked in a Nursing facility and provided Private duty care. She was very active with church events until her illness slowed her down gradually. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Cotton ; her children, Wilbur Person, Larrie Person , Richard Cotton and Charles Cotton and her siblings, Jazreal Haywood , Jessie Haywood , Lillie Cunningham , & Dorothy Barnes.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories 2 daughters, Mary Catherine Willis ( Isaac Willis) and Deborah Cotton (Joseph Duffy); 2 sisters, Lee Dora Johnson (Pete Johnson) and Ora Marie Brown (Dave Brown); 5 grandchildren, Evie, Tarra, Natalie, Travis and Tajanna and 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
