Arthur Mosteller Obituary

Arthur Douglas Mosteller departed this life on January 12, 2019 at a nursing home in Baltimore, Maryland. Born March 11, 1961, he was the son of Alonzo Mosteller and Mae Mosteller.

Arthur, affectionately known as Sonny, attended kindergarten in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended elementary and high school in Baltimore, Maryland and finished his education in Sanford, Florida.

Some might call Sonny a Jack of all trades because he loved to work with his hands. Throughout his career, he did landscaping, carpentry, painting and electrical work. He once ran a janitorial business and freelanced as a handyman. He was proudest of his tenure as an engineer for Living Classrooms in Baltimore City.

Sonny developed an entrepreneurial spirit at an early age which was initially nurtured by his mother through the sale of frozen cups. He progressed to the family snowball stand and later, Sonny began to sell balloons, inflatable toys and other novelties at local outings like the Maryland State Fair.

Sonny was a Chess Master who loved to sing, laugh and talk trash. During high school, he played guitar in a boy band and his sister Julie thought that was cool. Sonny was a fantastic Scrabble player.

He is survived by two daughters, Jasmine Hampton of Sanford, Florida and Shalema Nicole Pierce; four grandchildren, Aniya Hunter, Seonni Brown, Jaylen Jackson and Jayla Jackson; one great grandson, Ka’Dn McRae; his father, Alonzo Monsteller; his mother, Mae Mosteller; two sisters, Juliette Mosteller and Serena Mosteller; a very special woman, Soraya Ray and a host of other family and friennds.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
